Received my $29,000 “loan” today (0% APR, fee-free)

If you haven’t taken advantage of some credit card offers, you are missing out on some free money. Today I received a check from Citibank for a $29,000 interest free loan. I did not have to pay any fees for this.

This is just an example of my taking advantage of the many 0% APR credit card offers available. This one I did through Associated Bank, which is a CitiCard affiliate.

There are lots of things that can be done with $29,000. Unfortunately, it does need to be paid back in 1 year. I am not a risky person. Although I’m tempted by the current lows of the stock market (buy low sell high, right?), most likely I’ll put the money in a high-yield savings account. I use Alliant Savings which currently (2/20/09) yields  3% interest. Over 1 year, I’ll earn about $850 in interest over the span of the “loan”.

See my post about Alliant Credit Union.

I just have to remember to pay off the minimum balance every month. Easy money.
