Cheap Passport photos
We all need to have passport photos at some point. Whether it be for an actual passport of for other official documents, we will at some point need access to these 2″x2″ self-portraints.
As you may have noticed, obtaining these photos from the traditional route is a complete rip-off. You may find yourself paying $10 for 2 small photos. It probably costs the store less than 25 cents for the actual photo. What a mark up!
How can you get cheap passport photos?
- Take (or find) a digital photo of yourself. Be sure to satisfy the guidelines for a U.S. passport photo or any other guideline you need the photo for.
- Upload the photo to ePassportPhoto. This free service will automatically size your photo, allow you to crop, and will output a 4×6″ photo that will give you 5 passport photos of appropriate size.
- Print this photo using a photo printer (if you have one). If you don’t own a photo printer, use one of the many online printing services (Walmart, Target, Shutterfly, etc). Use Target or Walmart if you have one nearby (who doesn’t!) to save on shipping costs. I used Walmart because I had Walmart gift cards from a previous deal.
I just did this today. I printed out 5 passport photos at Walmart for 20 cents. That’s 4 cents per passport photo!
