Transitioning to a newly designed Wordpress site is one thing. Moving hosting services is another gargantuan task. Try doing both at the same time!

Things may be a little funky with the website in the next several days. Blogger proved too limiting so I’ve moved to a new Wordpress home on a new hosting service. It was cheap too!

Boy is this networking/web programming thing complicated. Even with a  CS degree I found myself befuddled quite often. Thanks goodness for the plethora of information & help on the internet. I learned a lot from the process. Heck, I was manually editing fields from my SQL database at 3 am. A month ago I knew nothing about how websites work.

For those new to blogging, Blogger (google-owned) and Wordpress are the 2 main free service that the majority of people use. Wordpress has a free hosted version with limited customization. I ended up buying a hosting service through Host Color.

Why Host Color?

Well I didn’t know much about them. There are some good reviews out there, but I thought it was a great deal that they offer Wordpress users a $2.99/month plan. Plus until 1/10/2009, everything is 25% off. So I’ll be paying $2.24/month for hosting services! $5 extra for the domain transfer.

I looked at some of the other bigger companies like GoDaddy but heard bad things about them.

Here is more info on the Wordpress plan from Host Color. It was my first time setting up a website and so far, they’ve been pretty responsive with helping me out with any questions. It seems like someone is available 24/7 with any issues.

Hope you enjoy my new site! Check out my old Blogger for comparison.
